My Goals For This Year!

Goal #1: To create an environment where delegates are comfortable with me and their fellow delegates; in turn, allowing them to feel comfortable in speaking up and in taking risks.
To achieve this goal, I would like to give delegates the opportunity to meet with me and other delegates before conference. I would like to have one on one conversations with each delegate in my committee at least once if not more. I would also like to set up casual meetings between delegates prior to conference. Due to the fact that general assembly is a larger committee, these meetings would most likely be between smaller groups of delegates giving them the ability to form friendships and connections prior to conference. Not to mention, I will do my utmost to promote a positive encouraging atmosphere during conference. I will make sure to project the message that success is not necessarily measured in how well you debate as opposed to how much you try and chose to put yourself out there.
The first reason as to why I would like to do this is because I, myself, have felt how significant the people and environment this program fosters can be. I, when first starting MUN, was not a great public speaker or civically engaged. It was the people, my officers and fellow delegates, who convinced me to believe in myself and who aided me in realizing that I have and deserve to have a voice in shaping the world. By allowing a connection to form between delegates and officers before conference, it will allow for delegates to speak up and to come out of their shells more easily during conference as they would be more comfortable to begin with. In addition, it would give us all more time to form those lifelong friendships, to have an even more significant and long-lasting effect on each other, and to spread some MUN love.
Goal #2: To become proficient in parliamentary procedure.
My second goal concerns the dreaded parliamentary procedure. We have all messed up parli-pro and have relied on our officers to guide us in the right direction. I want to ensure that by September 1, 2021 I am fully confident and proficient in the procedure of my committee and in how my committee should operate in various scenarios. Seeing that it is a possibility for next year to be online or in person, I should be prepared for either instance.
This is an important goal for me to achieve because I have only been in General Assembly for one year and it was virtual. Therefore, currently, I am not confident in leading a committee without confusing myself and others which would take away from valuable debate and committee session time. I want to make sure that as a leader I can be responsible for keeping my committee running in a respectable, seamless, and correct fashion. Not to mention, I want to make sure that my delegates have to worry about as little as possible and that they can be confident in my abilities to direct and support them.
Goal #3: To get to know the Officer Corp!
One of the most valuable aspects of MUN is that you get to form everlasting friendships with people. I want to make the most of my time in the Officer Corp by ensuring that before conference begins I have interacted with and formed connections with each and every officer. To do this I would like to keep in touch with those I have already bonded with, I would to interact through technology, and I would like to continue to attend Officer Game nights!! From what I have seen thus far, all of the officers are amazing people with amazing values, so I would love to get to know them better!
